ABOUT THE AUTHOR

David Morris is retired. Previously he worked in education for over twenty years, first as a teacher, then as a university lecturer. He has published books and academic texts for Palgrave Macmillan, Routledge, and Sage and has a doctorate in education.

He is married to his Japanese wife and since the late eighties he has spent a lot of time either travelling or living with the family in Japan. This has played a significant part in the backdrop to the story, as have his experiences of the education system. The scientific concepts and technological aspects of the story are loosely based on existing theory. Otherwise, everything else remains a work of fiction.

With over thirty years in the making, Kiss Koi Goodbye is his first novel.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

A book is never the product of one person’s effort or labour alone. And so I would like to express my gratitude to those who have taken the time to read it, who have offered suggestions, advice, or support along the way – Dave Cudworth, Andy Hepburn, Claire Letemendia, Julia Mascetti, and David Trueman. Particular gratitude goes to Rei, Taro, and Teruyo. It would never have happened without you.

A special thanks goes to — Louise Walters, for her perceptive and judicious editing. Jason Anscomb, for his vision and inspirational cover artwork. Vanessa Holt who recognised the potential many, many moons ago. Nick Harkaway for kind permission in allowing me to reprint the words of the late, greatJohn le Carré.

Finally, thanks goes to the vineyards of France and Spain for without those additional notes there may have been no moments of inspiration.
